Opening three forecasts can make a simple umbrella decision surprisingly difficult. Different rain symbols invite an argument about which service wins, although the screens may cover different places or hours. We checked Korea Meteorological Administration material, Windy documentation and AccuWeather’s Seoul page on October 3, 2026. This is a research-based comparison of how to use them, not an accuracy trial or a forecast for your particular day.
KMA Weather Nuri
For plans in Korea, I would start with Weather Nuri, operated by the Korea Meteorological Administration. Its navigation connects forecasts and warnings with radar, lightning and satellite information. Having those resources in one official service is its strongest reason for inclusion. Check whether your destination has a warning before reducing the whole decision to a rain icon.
The number of menus can feel demanding at first. Narrow the task to your destination and the hours you will actually be outside. A broad national view is a useful overview, but a city label alone is a poor basis for planning a mountain or coastal outing. When switching map layers, read whether the display represents observations or a forecast. They answer different questions, even when both show rainfall.
Windy
Windy is worth considering when you want to move around a map and understand regional differences. Its documentation describes forecast models including ECMWF IFS, GFS and ICON, alongside regional models where available. Comparing supported models at a location gives a traveller a more specific set of questions than a single city symbol. A trip involving several parts of Jeju is an example of the sort of planning task I have in mind.
An elaborate display does not make each point on the map certain. Model availability, coverage and update timing need attention. Set the location, date and hour before comparing anything, then check which model is selected. If the forecasts disagree, leave room to change the outdoor plan. Picking the model with the most appealing weather is not a useful way to settle uncertainty. We have not measured Korean forecast performance or the value of a premium subscription.
AccuWeather
The Seoul page offers navigation for today, hourly weather, ten days and monthly views. That city-first arrangement may suit someone who wants to work through an itinerary by hour. It is also a reasonable candidate when planning several international destinations in one service. The editorial attraction is familiarity: you can begin with the city and find the relevant time window.
Check the actual features for each destination. A MinuteCast or radar tab does not establish that every location in Korea receives the same detailed coverage, or that a feature is available when you open it. Similarly, a monthly view should not become a fixed timetable for an outdoor activity. The menu structure we observed and the information available at your exact destination are separate things to verify.
Make the comparison fair
Write down the location, date, hour and update time before comparing two forecasts. A whole city and a particular neighbourhood may not be the same place for this purpose. An afternoon summary and a forecast for three o’clock may not be answering the same question either. This small checklist is our practical suggestion, not an official test of the services.
An umbrella, an outdoor restaurant booking and a mountain walk also involve different decisions. Decide which conditions would change your plan. For a mountain or marine activity, consult applicable warnings and the operator’s access restrictions as well. An ordinary weather-app summary cannot settle whether a particular activity is safe or permitted on site.
Give each screen a job
You need not exhaust all three services every morning. I would use KMA for a Korean destination and warnings, add Windy for a wider regional trip, and open AccuWeather when its city-and-hour presentation helps with travel planning. Assigning a task to each screen is more useful than installing another app whenever two symbols differ.
Choose a time to check again before leaving, and keep an indoor alternative for plans that depend on dry weather. Forecasts can change; consulting more services does not remove that uncertainty. We have not compared current subscription prices. Check whether a required feature is supported at your destination and whether payment is needed. The table below describes useful starting points rather than awarding accuracy scores.

Our choice
I would start with KMA for a day in Korea, then add Windy or AccuWeather when the planning question calls for it. None receives an accuracy trophy from this comparison. Match the destination and hour, decide when to check again, and make a workable alternative to the outdoor plan. Finish with the relevant warnings and local access notices.
