Search for Seoul's 'three great jokbal restaurants' and Manjok Ohyang, Seongsu Jokbal, and Yeongdong Jokbal repeatedly appear. Jokbal is seasoned, cooked pork trotter, usually sliced for sharing. The familiar trio is a useful shortlist, not an official award or proof of a current three-way tasting. This guide distinguishes restaurant information from visitor reviews and helps you pick one dinner. Sources were checked on October 1, 2026.
Manjok Ohyang: A City Hall dinner with sides
The City Hall location is at 134-7 Seosomun-ro. KTO describes the restaurant as a jokbal specialist and also lists bossam, boiled pork, and jaengban-guksu, a shared noodle platter. Its location can fit plans around Deoksugung Palace, Seoul Plaza, or Namdaemun. The Ohyang name, referring to five-spice seasoning, is itself a reason to investigate the order.
Decide whether you want one meat platter or a meal with noodles before ordering. A small group can easily take on too much by choosing every featured dish. The MICHELIN history recorded by KTO refers to 2023; it should not be rewritten as a new 2026 award. Past recognition and the information needed for tonight's visit deserve separate treatment.
Seongsu Jokbal: An old name in a busy neighbourhood
Seongsu Jokbal appears repeatedly in accounts of this well-known trio. The current Seongsu-area Diningcode listings also identify the restaurant and visitor reviews. My reason to include it is practical: if you are spending the day in Seongsu, it is a dinner candidate without crossing Seoul solely to complete a famous list.
Reviews discuss the glaze, seasoning, and texture of skin and meat. Collecting those opinions would not establish that it is the chewiest of the three. Serving temperature, takeaway travel, and personal taste all affect those descriptions. Decide whether you will eat in or take away, then check the current location and hours against a map and restaurant notice. An address copied from an old review may be a poor starting point.
Yeongdong Jokbal: Be specific about Yangjae
The Yangjae Yeongdong Jokbal main restaurant appears on Menupan and Diningcode. Menupan describes a business opened in 1985; visitor accounts mention several nearby locations and takeaway experiences. This article concerns that Yangjae restaurant, not every unrelated shop elsewhere that happens to share the Yeongdong name.
For a meeting in Yangjae, I would start with a basic jokbal platter and add sides according to the group. Nearby branches can have different entrances and seating arrangements, so share the exact meeting point. A long history is an interesting reason to visit, but it cannot guarantee today's service or the way the food will suit you.
Two things a price comparison misses
First, portion labels. A large platter at one restaurant and a medium at another need not contain comparable amounts of meat. Bone weight and included sides may differ. 'Medium' and 'large' on a menu are not city-wide standard units. Look at the actual order before deciding which restaurant offers more for the money.
Second, temperature. A plate served at the table and a takeaway carried across town are not the same experience. If you want your own useful comparison, keep those conditions reasonably close and remember how much salted shrimp sauce, ssamjang, or garlic you added. This guide gives no numerical sweetness, tenderness, or chewiness scores because it has not tested the three together.
Use the famous list to narrow the map
Once the search has given you three candidates, choose between City Hall, Seongsu, and Yangjae. Travelling for one meal can be part of the fun, but an after-work dinner may be better served by a nearby option. The name gets a restaurant onto the shortlist; distance, company, and order size decide the evening.
I have not filled the comparison with unverified current prices or waiting times. One old queue report is not an average for another date. The table combines identifiable locations, documented menus, the type of evidence available, and suggested visiting plans. It does not name a taste champion.

Pick tonight's neighbourhood
I would begin with the map: Manjok Ohyang around City Hall, Seongsu Jokbal in Seongsu, Yeongdong in Yangjae. Reputation narrows the options; distance and company finish the decision. If you want to return the next time you are nearby, the restaurant has earned a place on your own list. That matters more than repeating someone else's 'top three'.
